The kicker is that someone else got kicked out! That's just messed up. I mean, I've been going to Wrigley since the mid-80's and I've seen some really stupid stupid things happen there, but this is hands down the worst. I mean, it's one thing to just act like a jackass and another to actually interfere and assault a player.
I hope someone walks into his job and throws a beer in his face while he's working... if he actually has a job.
Yeah, and those guys were repeat offenders! Didn't one of those dude's DAD get involved in a separate "run on the field" altercation shortly after that?
I think he was the guy who attacked an umpire? Am I getting incidents confused?
All bias aside, both Cubs fans and Sox fans have to deal with a lot of horrible stereotypes and it's unfortunate. We should just all unite and focus our hate on something we can agree on... like hating the Yankees or continue giving the city of St Louis an inferiority complex.
Yeah, an ump or a base coach was definitely attacked in one of those incidents involving the son and dad.
The holier than thou attitude espoused by some team's fans is just mind-blowing. EVERY team has asshole fans or people who don't have the first clue what they're even watching because they're too busy drinking and socializing.
Wow. Brilliant. Ever read the book A Cub Fan's Guide to Happiness? There's a whole chapter on the White Sox and this kid looks like he read that chapter and sorta ran with it. I wonder if the Heckler (the folks who wrote/published the book) just sorta looked at these two and were like "Yup. That's who we're basing it on."
Douchebaggery should not be tolerated. If someone sent a text to security they should have made sure that the right assclown was kicked out.
Taunting and ripping on players is as old as the game itself (and that can even go to far), but throwing shit at them or otherwise interrupting the game should not be tolerated by players, fans or any other spectators.
Watching the vid in the blog link it looks like the 'taunter' had his arm stretched out to catch the ball if it made it over... too bad he got tossed out. It also made him look like a good suspect given the reports of his taunting.
Having spent a few years now with season tickets to college football, douchebaggery exists in all sporting events.. I know its hard for security to get the correct people, but that's where fans of the game come in. We need to be the eyes/ears so when this crap happens the correct people are escorted away, (and rightfully get this shit kicked out of them) :)
Ya know, part of the charm of the "Bleacher Bums" is that they do fuck with the other team, but it rarely gets out of hand and doesn't even appear to be anything outside of light hearted ribbing.
Carlos Lee for example loves it out there. He plays with the bleacher bums and throws it right back at them and everyone has a good time. But holy crap have there been times where things have gotten stupid. Games getting delayed because people are throwing shit onto the field over a bad call, this beer throwing crap, etc.
I agree. There's idiots in every sport and at every park... except Pittsburgh, but then again, no one goes to games in Pittsburgh. :p
Oh i know... that's a great part of getting those bleacher seats :) there's some outfielders that will ignore you, others will occasionally talk some shit back, and at the end of the game that's it.
I've heard some things get yelled that maybe i thought got a little to personal towards players that maybe wouldn't be something i'd say. But everyone has their 'comfort zone.'
The last time I sat out in the bleachers was last year (I simply just can't afford them this year - you can get nicer seats in the stands for less money) and there were these guys next to us who were taunting Jake Peavy. But, while their taunts were hilarious, they weren't offensive or out of hand. My favorite is still "Hey Jake Peavy, are you on MySpace? Cause we could make it ourspace!"
There's also the classic "Dunn Dunn Dunnnnnnn" but that's a little harder to continue with him not being on the Reds anymore.
I want to know what they're going to do for the guy they did throw out! Give him and several of his friends free tickets for a couple of games, I hope.

Can't tell you how much badmouthing other (probably equally douchebaggy) teams' fans have done on the internet. Sick of it.
